Lindsay Shetterly (formerly Garland) is a passionate advocate for clients and this quality transcends every aspect of her role as a Principal and a Client Advisor for Glassman Wealth. For the past decade, she has advised high-net worth families and foundations, constantly fine-tuning their investment and financial plans to take advantage of ever-changing opportunities. This relentless commitment to her clients is evident in the lasting, personal relationships she develops with them.

Lindsay drives our efforts to bring the right financial planning solutions to the right clients at the right time. She not only enjoys the challenge of seeking out and applying creative solutions to estate, tax and other financial planning issues, she coaches our advisory team on these best practices for all clients.

While she enjoys all aspects of financial planning, two areas stand out for her: estate planning and multi-generational wealth education.

Lindsay believes that while investment management is important, careful estate planning is critical for families to achieve their financial goals. From establishing basic estate planning documents, like wills, to more sophisticated and nuanced planning that includes techniques to preserve and pass on more of their estate, she thrives on creating customized and cohesive estate strategies.

“I cherish the close relationships I have with clients and know that I am serving them well when they think of me as an extension of their family. I fight ‘tooth and nail’ for them in ways that make a difference in their lives, whether it’s simplifying paperwork by not taking no for an answer from the custodian, to constantly challenging what we do for clients in order to create better and more meaningful ways to meet their needs.”

She works closely with two and three generations of families preparing each for what to expect as wealth is transferred from one generation to the next. She educates younger family members, typically in their late teens to early 30s, about money and wealth so that by the time they inherit, they will be prepared for the responsibilities that come with it.

Prior to joining Glassman Wealth, Lindsay was a Director at Highline Wealth Management advising high-net worth families and foundations. There, she led the Financial Planning Committee and educated the staff to ensure that all clients received comprehensive wealth advice.

Lindsay earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Finance Specialization and Psychology Minor) from American University – Kogod School of Business in Washington, DC. She has also attained her Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA) and Certified Estate Specialist™ (CES) designations.

Fact: Lindsay was recently crowned the 2018 Glassman Wealth Chili Cook-off champion. Her spicy recipe dominated the competition, although she has some challengers who are eager to prove themselves next year.
