We live in a world of choices.
Nearly every decision we make has endless possibilities, from the type of cereal we pick up at the grocery store to the program we study in college. An abundance of options may seem like it’ll make life easier; after all, with all of these options you should be able to find a perfect match. As it turns out, too much of a good thing is actually making life harder for us. All of these options make us question ourselves, and when things don’t turn out perfect the blame falls squarely on our own shoulders. Barry Schwartz explores why the overwhelming abundance of choice is just stressing us out, and how cutting out all but the important decisions will make us infinitely happier.
