To all of my new friends who are known as the Newsbabes:
I want to commend and congratulate all of you for such an amazing event last evening! The attendance – over 400 people – was astounding as so many came out to support the 6th Annual Newsbabes Bash for Breast Cancer.
In a sea of pink solidarity, people within the media industry, friends and colleagues came to support this event to benefit Survivors Offering Support (SOS). What an impact these donations will have on their efforts as they help those who are battling breast cancer. We couldn’t be more honored or proud as a sponsor and supporter.
While I know that all of you will go back to crazy early morning and late night schedules, I beg of you to take a moment today to stop and recognize the impact that you and your colleagues are having on those affected by breast cancer.
The ceremony was both heartfelt and inspiring as each of your words told the stories of struggle, painful loss and joyful survival from breast cancer that all too many in the audience have experienced first-hand.
This message was underscored by the personal narratives from Amy Robach and Dr. Jill Biden who gave hope, encouragement, and a sense of urgency to do all we can to raise awareness and money to fight this disease.
That message was heard and felt by those I spoke to who said, “This is amazing. Next year, we should do even more.”
Our thanks go out to Dr. Robert Sigal, his wife, Stefanie, and the Austin-Weston Center who have pledged to make up any gap in donations to meet the $5,000 match from Glassman Wealth Services. Because they decided to ‘do more’, we were able to raise an additional $10,000.
While my wife, Carenand I were recently introduced to the “Babes of News,” I hope this is the beginning of a journey to better the lives of so many people with an immediate and lasting life-changing impact.
