His vision for starting GWS was to deliver investment strategies and wealth management services typically available at the highest levels of wealth. Today, clients benefit from these sophisticated financial services targeted to meet their unique needs.

For one special evening each year, Barry Glassman, President of Glassman Wealth Services in McLean, VA, trades his business attire for a chef’s coat and whips up a culinary masterpiece to advance a cure for brain tumors.

Since founding Chef Night 11 years ago, Glassman has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help those battling a brain tumor.  This year, Chef Night, the most successful to date, raised over $75,000 for the National Brain Tumor Society.

On October 20, Chef Night transformed Cities Restaurant and Lounge in Washington, DC into a food and wine mecca where over 165 guests enjoyed an adventurous tasting menu that included poached lobster tartlettes, wild mushroom chopsticks, citrus glazed cod, and beef tenderloin accompanied by an elegant version of short rib pot pie.

Schneider’s of Capitol Hill, a Chef Night sponsor, donated many of the unique and rare bottles of wine for the Chef Night auction.  Two of those that were auctioned, a 1975 Chateau Petrus and 1982 Chateau Ausone brought $3,000.  Boutique wineries from Napa and Sonoma, including William Selyem, Patz Hall, Merry Edwards, Opus and others donated signed magnums of their hard-to-get vintages.

An exclusive trip to Napa, including private tours with some of the world’s top winemakers arranged by Rick and Jon Genderson, owners of Schneider’s was the highlight of the live auction.  The most touching moment of the evening came when Tom and Alice Blair won this luxury trip, then donated it back to be auctioned again.

Sponsors of Chef Night include Cardinal Bank, Apex Home Loans, Intersections, Inc., Greenberg, Wexler & Eig, Ronny & Janis Simon and Roger & Cheri Freidman.

Barry Glassman and Glassman Wealth Services underwrite Chef Night and all proceeds go to the National Brain Tumor Society.  Glassman also serves on the board of directors of the NBTS, the largest national organization that funds innovative brain tumor research and offers comprehensive services to those affected by brain tumors.
