As the President of Glassman Wealth, it’s crucial that I am able to tackle challenges, all while managing people, tasks, and finances. These are my go-to resources for making that possible. The apps and websites listed below have added immense value to our firm in a myriad of ways—from enhancing company culture to revamping our client communication.
Some are either fairly inexpensive, and the others are worth the cost, and they all have added value to my firm and our client experience.
Fiverr
[sc name=”Fiverr Video” ]
Fiverr is our jack-of-all-trades tool. Need a cartoon to go with your article? A logo for your website? A professional voiceover? Fiverr has it, and more. It is a freelance service website and offers a huge variety of tools at various pricing levels. Most services start off at $5, but the price rises as you grow in quality and difficulty. I’ll apologize in advance for the hours you will spend exploring it the first time you check it out.
Evernote
Evernote allows you to save live documents online so that you can easily access and edit them. Why is it cool and why should you use it? Because it allows you share your notebook with others, which can be edited together in real time, as well as share articles and webpages.
Did you ever rip an article out of a magazine to save for later or share with a friend? Evernote lets you do that digitally, so when you jot down notes about that great piece on employee retention—you have the article itself there and ready to share. And little known fact- you can even send emails directly to Evernote, gathering everything you need in one place.
TINYpulse
[sc name=”Tiny pulse video” ]
TINYpulse is an employee engagement platform that allows us to measure and improve company culture. It sends out one researched-backed question that gives you new insight on your team and what’s working, and where you might need improvement. All feedback is anonymous, and employees have an option to send in suggestions that can be discussed on the platform. They do an amazing job of not only providing you with well-worded questions for the team, but also guide you as to what to do with the feedback.
Kolbe Index
Rather than an IQ or personality test, this index looks at people’s instincts and natural strengths. It’s not something you can cheat on or study for—rather is reflects your natural drives, and can help to make sense of what different employees need to succeed.
While it’s important to know what makes you tick, Kolbe offers something priceless: it allows you to look at coworkers and learn how they work, think, and make decisions.
Lynda.com
When is the last time you took a course on excel? Chances are it was 15 versions of excel ago. Lynda, now owned by Linkedin, is our go-to resource for online education. You can tap their resources when you want to learn certain cool features within programs that you already use. For example, if you’re working on a chart and want to see how the latest version of excel or word can help, you can click on a portion of the latest courses, and seven minutes later you’re an expert.
Whatever your interest, Lynda probably (re: definitely) has something to teach you. You could easily commit an entire month to the school of Lynda, and by the end of it you would have barely scrapped the surface. Lynda can help quench your curiosity, and probably spark some new interests in the process.
