Eric Dunner loves to solve puzzles. Nothing gives him greater satisfaction than picking apart a problem and finding the best solution. For Eric, an important aspect of solving problems for clients is having the right tools and applying them in a way that provides positive outcomes for them and their families.
As an Associate Client Advisor, Eric uses the tools he gained through his diverse education as a Certified Financial Planner and an attorney as he works with clients and supports the Client Advisors at Glassman Wealth. He quickly realized that there was something unique about combining the two.
“Law and finance are intertwined, especially for our clients and those who will engage us in the future. As we’re helping them to save money and prepare them and the next generation for whatever their goals are, the two go hand-in-hand,” Eric said.
Eric likes to put himself in the client’s position. Taking this view, he can better anticipate a client’s needs and take action to assist them whether it’s reviewing their wills or trusts, discussing the tax implications of their investments or employing other financial planning tools. He wants clients to feel that the team at Glassman Wealth is an integral and essential part of their lives.
Having worked with many corporate 401(k) plans, advising them on their investment choices and providing education to the employee participants, Eric is a strong advocate for saving for retirement. He enjoys advising clients of all ages – from those just beginning to save, to those closing in on retirement, and those retiring and wondering what happens to their 401(k) when they stop working.
“It’s hard to imagine yourself as a future person. Most of the time, we imagine ourselves in the present. This makes it more difficult to prioritize saving for retirement,” Eric said.
Eric has a unique definition of success. He believes that you never want to be successful. You always want to be striving to be successful. By perpetually moving the bar ever higher, this mindset motivates him to improve every day.
His love of learning echoes a theme common to all of the Glassman Wealth team. Eric enjoys traveling to different countries and immersing himself in the local culture to learn who they are and why they do things a certain way. These excursions include people-to-people mission trips, most recently to Cuba where he and his wife brought medicine and school supplies to communities in need.
Eric is excited to be a part of the Glassman Wealth team. He shares our passion to ‘enrich the lives of our clients’ and plans to build upon this as we teach, learn and grow together.
Outside of work, Eric is busy being a brand new Dad to his nine week old son, Alexander. It won’t be difficult for baby Alex to imagine his future self since he is the spitting image of his Dad.
