About the Event and Chris Lees

Why in the world would anyone want to attend a one-on-one to listen to a portfolio manager?

Because this portfolio manager is Chris Lees. Typically, Glassman Wealth does this for you: we listen to the managers and bring you the investment vehicles and recommendations. But as you already know, we like to bring you really smart people from around the world who have interesting inputs and perspectives. And in this case we think what Chris has to say is worth sharing with you directly. Want a summary on why Chris Lees? Here are the three reasons we think it’s worth joining us:

  1. You already own it. This isn’t a sales pitch or presenting a new strategy. Instead you get to hear directly from the person who is selecting the stocks and piecing together the portfolio that you are already invested in.
  2. Chris travels the world, meeting with companies’ leadership teams to find out what’s going on in their businesses, and pieces together the portfolio based on that data. He employs this first-hand knowledge of what he hears to develop his investment strategies.
  3. This is unlike any other actively managed fund that we know. His analysis processes are robust and detailed, but he also actively pursues ESG (Environment, Social and Corporate Governance) companies and CEOs who are supporting this philosophy.

Yeah…suffice it to say, we think you’ll enjoy hearing directly from Chris about the portfolio, his strategies and where he sees things heading in the reemergence post-pandemic.

Still not convinced?

The following is an excerpt from a recent Barron’s article that highlights Chris and his global fund strategy. You can read the whole article here.

“While he searches the world for stocks with curb appeal, the fund manager’s actual neighborhood is Andermatt, Switzerland. The once-sleepy alpine village has become a destination for skiers and a case study in sustainability—it’s powered 100% by wind. “It’s really exciting to be in the mountains but also watch some very sustainable development going on here,” says Lees, an avid skier and mountaineer.

Lees, who is British but has lived overseas most of his life, moved to Switzerland in 2008 when he joined JOHCM. The firm’s modus operandi is to give experienced, high-conviction managers the autonomy to pursue investment opportunities. “There’s more than one path to any investment summit,” says Lees.” [Excerpt from Barron’s]
